In a statement made by the Kremlin, it was noted that Putin ordered an increase of 180,000 soldiers in the Russian army, emphasizing that “Putin ordered the current number of armed forces to be raised to 2.38 million, with 1.5 million of them needing to be active soldiers.”
With this latest order, Putin has increased the number of troops for the third time since sending soldiers to Ukraine in February 2022. Since 2022, Putin has ordered the number of combat troops to be 137,000 and 170,000 respectively, and during partial mobilization in September and October 2022, it was announced that 300,000 reserve soldiers would be called up.
