Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban discussed the situation in Ukraine with former US President Donald Trump as part of his ‘peace mission’ visits. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban met with former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump last night as part of the ‘peace mission’ talks initiated for Ukraine. The meeting took place at Trump’s mansion in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, where Orban and Trump made assessments regarding achieving peace. Orban, in a social media post about the meeting, stated, ‘We discussed ways to achieve peace. The good news of the day is (Trump) will solve this.’ Trump, in his statement, thanked Viktor Orban for his visit and said, ‘Peace must be achieved quickly. Too many people have died in a war that should never have started.’ Orban’s peace mission Hungarian Prime Minister Orban initiated a ‘peace mission’ for Ukraine after taking over the EU Council Presidency on July 1st. He met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev on July 2nd, Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on July 5th, and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on July 8th. EU leaders stated that Orban did not receive authorization from Brussels for his Moscow visit and was not representing the EU. Viktor Orban had expressed his support for Trump in the US presidential elections to be held in November, stating that the possibility of Joe Biden losing the election was ‘very high’.
