Italian Prime Minister Meloni and Hungarian Prime Minister Orban’s victory in the European Parliament

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared their victories in the European Parliament elections. Parliamentary elections lasting 4 days in European countries have ended. As the leaders who lost in the elections announced their resignations one by one, the winning leaders made victory speeches. According to the initial results of the election, the far-right party Italy’s Brothers, led by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, received 28% of the votes, surpassing its success in the 2019 European Parliament (EP) elections. Following the election victory, Meloni stated, ‘Thank you. By leaving behind the results of the recent elections, we proved to be the leading Italian party. It seems that the Italian system is becoming a bipolar system again. This is good news.’ Meloni described the result as ‘extraordinary’ in her party headquarters and said, ‘I am proud of the result. I am proud that we went to the G7 and Europe with the strongest government.’ Meloni promised to use her party’s rise for future initiatives. In Italy, the center-left Democratic Party, in opposition, ranked second on the list with 23.7%. Orban’s party came first with 44.52%. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared victory in his speech after the unofficial election results, saying, ‘Today, 2 elections were held and we won both. The Hungarian people have confirmed the government’s peace-loving policies and have given us the mandate to keep Hungary out of war.’ Using the words, ‘The Hungarian people have clearly stated: those who turn their backs on their homeland in Brussels will be punished,’ Orban said, ‘Stop migration, stop war, stop Brussels.’ In Hungary, where there are a total of 21 seats in Parliament, according to unofficial election results, the Fidesz party led by Orban received 44.52% of the votes, winning 11 seats. The Tisza Party, led by opposition leader Peter Magyar, received 29.74% of the votes, winning 7 seats. The parties ‘Dialogue for Hungary’ and ‘Our Homeland Movement’ each won 1 seat for Hungary.
