Chinese President Xi Jinping Visits Serbia
Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Serbia to make an official visit. It is expected that the relations between the two countries will strengthen.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Serbia. Xi was welcomed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic at the Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan were welcomed at the airport by Vucic along with Serbian President’s wife Tamara Vucic, Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic, Foreign Minister Marko Djuric, and former President Tomislav Nikolic.
Support Statement on Relations from Xi
In his statement after landing in Belgrade, Xi said, “China and Serbia have provided strong support to each other on issues of common interests and major concerns. We have jointly supported international justice and righteousness and contributed together to the promotion of peace and development in the world.”
Due to Xi’s two-day visit, Serbian police have taken intensive security measures. The Serbian media reported that 3400 police officers will be on duty for the protection of Xi and his delegation. Xi is expected to visit Hungary after his talks in Serbia.
Sending a Message with the Visit Date: Xi’s choice of the starting date of his Serbia visit as the 25th anniversary of the NATO bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade during the Kosovo intervention drew attention.
Chinese President Xi, in an article he wrote for the Serbian newspaper “Politika” regarding the incident on May 7, 1999, when American jets carried out an action that led to the death of three Chinese citizens, stated that China will never forget the bombing of its Embassy in Yugoslavia.
In his article published today, Xi wrote, “Twenty-five years ago today, NATO recklessly bombed the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia, killing three Chinese journalists. We must never forget this. The blood-bonded China-Serbia friendship will live on in the common memory of our peoples.”
